The Wasontha Sanctuary is a small arts and land stewardship nonprofit that promotes the health and cultural wellbeing of our local community and cultivates sustainable and generative relationships with the land.

We run a small organic vegetable farm in Root, New York that hosts artist residencies, produces community arts programming, and facilitates connections with other farms, arts, and culture organizations in the Mohawk Valley and surrounding region.

Residents receive:

● Housing in Root, NY

● Weekly food stipends

● Space to work on your art

● Funds for art materials

● Access to various group field trips and activities, such as hiking or canoe trips, volunteering with other local farms or organizations, visiting local museums and galleries, attending music festivals and concerts in the region, etc.
